Since the Spectacular Softies Contest is still going on over at Sew Mama Sew, I thought I would max out my allowable 3 submissions with a mounted alpaca bust and a bunch of fleece Peeps.
I mean, who doesn't love Peeps? And with the awesome bunny and chick tutorials over at Dandelions and Lace it's hard not to want to make a whole gaggle of Peeps. A gander of Peeps? I'm not sure what this kind of grouping of cuteness should be called.
Now to try to explain the alpaca. Where I work, we have been grouped into teams and we had to pick a team slogan and icon. We came up with some made up acronym for the word alpaca. Mostly because alpacas are so cute.
On a recent visit to my local Hancock Fabrics, I found a great deal on about a quarter of a yard of cotton candy blue colored fur that I didn't know what I was going to use it for, but I knew I had to have it.
Some tweaking to a Simplicity pattern for a giraffe bust and you've got yourself an alpaca.
But since I gave the alpaca such feminine eyelashes, I decided I needed to fully girl it up. Our team captain chose the name Pearl for her individual alpaca mascot name, so I thought I'd give this little gal some pearl earrings and some lace fringe for her mounting board.
She may get more accessories added after we get her situated at work, but we'll have to see.
